Christel House South Africa has announced the appointment of Adrienne Marais as its new chief executive officer.

Marais has an extensive and broad-based background in education, not-for-profit management, education management and fundraising.

She previously held the position of CEO of TSiBA Education, an organisation that she co-founded and which provides under-privileged students with full tuition scholarships for study towards a fully accredited BBA degree in Entrepreneurial Leadership.

Under her leadership, TSiBA has awarded more than 1,500 four-year scholarships, produced eight Mandela Rhodes Scholars, four Allan Gray Orbis Scholars and three Kofi Annan Fellows. It has also achieved a post-school employment placement programme of 93 per cent.

Marais has a BSc (Honours) and Masters in Biochemistry, MBA and a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education Studies (Cum Laude).

Francois Louw, director of Fundraising & Marketing at Christel House South Africa (CHSA), said: “We have great confidence that Adri will provide the leadership necessary to build a stronger CH South Africa and accelerate the progress being achieved to date.”

Marais will report to the charity’s founder and CEO Christel DeHaan as well as the chairman of the Board of Directors of CHSA. She will take up her post on 3 April 2018.
