Radisson Blu opens hotel in the Swiss Alps
Upscale hotel brand Radisson Blu has opened a new hotel in Switzerland, the 224-room Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen, Andermatt.
Facing the Swiss Alps, the hotel is part of an extensive transformation that seeks to build on Andermatt’s growing status as a year-round destination for visitors.
Situated halfway between Zurich and Milan (and just 30 minutes away from Lucerne), the Swiss village of Andermatt lies at an elevation of 1,444 metres and is easily accessible by car or train.
With just 1,500 inhabitants, it has the enchanting atmosphere of a romantic little mountain village, offering a variety of attractions for travellers – among the apartment buildings, hotels and chalets, there’s even an 18-hole Scotland-inspired golf course and a Ski Arena.
The Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen, Andermatt offers 179 spacious rooms and 45 suites and apartments, designed in the style typical of Swiss chalets. Inside the hotel, generous use of natural materials elevates the feel-good factor and creates a warm ambiance, while the guest rooms, suites and apartments feature free high-speed internet, LED televisions and 24-hour room service.

The hotel also has a modern health and wellness area, with a 25-metre pool featuring a panorama view, a sauna and steam bath as well as customised treatments.
Yilmaz Yildirimlar, area senior vice president of the Area Central & Southern Europe region for Radisson Hotel Group, said: “We’re delighted to open this iconic landmark in the charming mountain village of Andermatt after an extensive construction period.
“We’re also proud to be a part of the overall development of this new year-round destination that provides guests with unique nature experiences, sporting activities and a first-class range of culinary delights.
“We see Andermatt as a promising and powerful driving factor for tourism in the region, as well as for the MICE sector.”
With the latter in mind, the hotel offers excellent infrastructure for business and private events. In addition to six individualised meeting rooms and boardrooms, there’s a large, multifunctional concert hall (opening in spring 2019), with seating for up to 700 guests.
