More holidaymakers flocking to Tenerife

With summer fast approaching, the signs are that more and more holidaymakers are planning trips to the year-round destination of Tenerife.

The largest Canary Island is back on its feet post-recession with the Tenerife Tourism Board’s latest data predicting more than 5.3 million tourist arrivals for 2015.

Alberto Bernabé, director of Tourism in Tenerife, said: “This is one of the highest totals recorded historically, together with 2006, with 5.4 million visitors, and 2007 and 2008, also with about 5.3 million visitors… we are back to tourism figures similar to those recorded before the start of the financial crisis, a further sign of recovery and economic dynamism.”

Tenerife’s increasing popularity with British holidaymakers has also been observed by many airlines in the UK with Vueling Airlines operating a new route from Manchester and low-cost carrier Ryanair announcing an additional weekly service from Cardiff.
