BA launches direct flights from Heathrow to Tenerife

Tenerife is set to become even more accessible to UK holidaymakers after British Airways announced its first direct flights from London Heathrow to Tenerife South Airport.

The new service will be available from 21 October 2017 to 24 March 2018 and is perfect for British travellers and timeshare owners planning their winter sunshine getaway.

The weekly flight will run on Saturdays from Heathrow, the UK’s largest airport, flying direct to Tenerife in just four and a half hours. Flights will depart at 6.45am and arrive at 11.15am local time. The new route option follows the huge success of British Airways flights to the same destination from London Gatwick.

Increased visitor arrivals

Alberto Bernabé, Tourism Minister for the Tenerife Island Government, said: “We are extremely pleased with the new British Airways flight route from London Heathrow to Tenerife South Airport.

“The announcement of this new service comes at a great time for us as last year saw visitor arrivals from the UK exceed two million for the first time and this year’s arrivals are already showing an increase on these impressive results.”

Sean Doyle, British Airways’ director of network and alliances, said: “Our flights to European sunshine destinations are proving incredible popular with customers, which is why we are laying on even more flights to cope with the extra demand for seats.

“Guaranteed sunshine, idyllic beaches and charming villages make Tenerife an ideal holiday choice all year round.”
