RDO to host Home Owners’ Association meeting
European timeshare body the Resort Development Organisation (RDO) is to host a Home Owners’ Association (HOA) meeting ahead of its annual conference in September.
Held in association with its US counterpart ARDA-Resort Owners’ Coalition (ARDA-ROC) Europe, the meeting of HOA committee chairmen will take place at the Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel in London immediately prior to its RDO9 conference on 12 September.
The decision to hold the meeting follows the demise of The Association of Timeshare Owners Committees (TATOC) in 2017 and the consensus of the RDO Board that timeshare owners should have formal representation, a forum to network and access to guidance and support.
TATOC demise
RDO has already taken steps to plug the gap left by TATOC, and last year set up a new consumer helpline that is available in four European languages, as well as a website.
Managed on RDO’S behalf by KwikChex, both services are approved by Trading Standards and form part of the Timeshare Task Force initiative. In addition, the new Association of International Property Owners (AIPO) website for owners of holiday homes overseas was launched in May 2018.
The HOA meeting, which has been organised to discuss key issues affecting resorts, will hear from Howard Nusbaum and Ken McKelvey about how ARDA-ROC operates in the US and discuss how RDO and ARDA-ROC Europe could provide guidance, support and assistance to European clubs going forward.
Attendees are also invited to lunch and the RDO conference breakout sessions taking place that afternoon.
