Christel House aims to ‘Feed A Future’
Christel House, RCI and the timeshare industry’s charity of choice, is making #FeedAFuture, a fundraising drive to support its nutrition programme, a key campaign pledge for 2019.
The new campaign is the brainchild of Christel House South Africa, which is organising a number of fundraising initiatives throughout the year, including a recent charity golf day held at the Stellenbosch Golf Club, to raise money to fund its school feeding programme.
Established in 2001, Christel House South Africa’s mission is to break the cycle of poverty and build self-sufficient, contributing members of society. The charity reports that more than three million children in South Africa experience chronic hunger every day, and while nutrition remains a national priority, there are still millions of children who start their school day without a nutritional breakfast and a guarantee of a wholesome meal for the day.
Christel House South Africa, which is based in Cape Town, enrolls children from 20 disadvantaged communities in the Cape Flats, and as part of its holistic education model, it provides each child with two nutritious meals and a snack daily.
The charity’s ambassador for the Feed A Future campaign is 10-year old, Mvano, who shares her journey in the 30-second campaign video below. In the video, Mvano describes her journey of understanding where she comes from yet knowing what she aspires to become, and how with the help of Christel House and the public, she intends to fulfil her dreams.
Mvano is one of 750 students currently enrolled at Christel House South Africa from grade R to 12, and who have been given an opportunity to reach their fullest potential. The grade 6 pupil has taken on her role as official ambassador for the campaign with excitement and is passionate about helping the school achieve its goal of raising R1million to help feed her fellow students.
All the money raised from this year’s Christel House Europe charity golf tournament will be used to help fund the charity’s work in South Africa and India, to supporting the Feed A Future campaign as well as helping to provide uniforms for pupils at the charity’s schools in Bangalore and Atal Nagar.
The ever-popular event attracts teams from throughout the timeshare and leisure industries, and this year will take place on Monday 17 June at Badgemore Park Golf Club in Henley On Thames.
