Club Las Calas raises over €6,000 for charity
Club Las Calas, an RCI-affiliated resort in Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote has raised more than €6,000 after hosting a month of Big Pink fundraising events and activities.
The events took place throughout October to raise awareness and money for Breast Cancer Care – the only UK-wide specialist breast cancer support charity, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Throughout the month, resort staff, owners and guests took part in a wide range of Big Pink events and activities, raising an amazing €6,101.12 to support the charity.

Rachel Littleworth, the resort’s manager, said: “Several people connected to the resort, including Ruth Skerry, a member of our owners’ committee, have been diagnosed with breast cancer or know friends and family who have been affected.
“We wanted to hold a month of Big Pink events for our owners and guests to enjoy during their holiday, while also raising awareness and money for Breast Cancer Care. We also had great support from local businesses who donated prizes and services, and our owners and guests have been incredibly generous.”

The cycle challenge attracted some interesting riders...
Fiona West, fundraising officer at Breast Cancer Care, said: “We’re so grateful to Club Las Calas for holding a Big Pink in aid of Breast Cancer Care. The money they have raised will help the charity to continue to provide a unique range of free support including reliable information, one-to-one support over the phone and online from nurses and people who’ve been diagnosed themselves.
“An estimated 691,000 people in the UK are currently living with a breast cancer diagnosis so there has never been such an urgent need for our support services.”
