easyJet adds two new routes from Edinburgh

Budget airline easyJet has announced two new summer routes from Edinburgh, bringing the number of routes offered from the Scottish capital to 40.

The new routes will see airline connecting Scotland with Jersey in the Channel Islands and Seville in Spain.

easyJet customers in Scotland will now be able to explore even more of the UK and Europe, with flights operating twice a week on A320 aircraft to both new destinations throughout the summer season.

Fare start at £30.74 to Jersey fares and £32.76 to Seville.

Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK country manager, said: “We’re really pleased to be adding even more routes to our Edinburgh network. easyJet is the largest airline in Scotland and we have been committed to Edinburgh for over 22 years. We are proud to have carried more than over 41 million passengers in that time.

“We’re committed to expansion at Edinburgh and the addition of new routes will help us to deliver long term, sustainable growth, providing passengers with a greater range of destinations, all with low fares and great service.”

Gordon Dewar, chief executive of Edinburgh Airport, added: “The New Year always brings fresh opportunities and adventures, and we’re delighted to be able to offer two new summer destinations to passengers in Seville and Jersey. We know choice is important and these new routes only add to the huge selection we already have – and it’s never too early to be planning that next trip!

“We have a strong relationship with easyJet and the fact they are continuing to grow at Edinburgh is a sign of their commitment to Scotland’s busiest airport and of the success we have had already and will continue to enjoy in 2018 and beyond.”

easyJet is the largest airline in Scotland carrying almost one in three Scottish travellers and in calendar year 2018 will continue to grow as the number of seats on sale will increase around five per cent to more than eight million.

The airline operates 838 flights in and out of Scotland per week in peak summer to 45 airports in 19 countries and links Scotland with some the largest European cities including Amsterdam, Paris, Athens, Milan, Prague and Berlin.
