Hilton Dunkeld sold but timeshare owners’ rights remain

Hilton Dunkeld House, home to RCI affiliate Hilton Grand Vacation Club at Dunkeld, has been acquired for an undisclosed sum by Dunkeld House Hotel LLP.

The mixed-use property, which is set in 280 acres on the banks of the River Tay in Perthshire, Scotland, has been bought by a partnership of Arnold Schnegg and James Hawksworth, founders of Hallmark Hotels, and funds managed by Downing LLP. They took over the 98-room hotel on 5 May 2016.

The shared-ownership element of the property will remain the same, with timeshare owners’ rights unchanged, according to Richard McIntosh, managing director of Hilton Grand Vacations.

‘Positive development’

“This acquisition is viewed as a positive development for the Dunkeld property and the Hilton Grand Vacations Club. On 5 May the hotel will be known as Dunkeld House Hotel,” he said.

“Importantly for our owners and members, the Hilton Grand Vacations Club at Dunkeld will continue unchanged, with the club name retaining its own brand, while the ownership rights of the timeshare owners will also stay the same.

“We are looking forward to working very closely alongside the new hotel owners, as we see a very positive future for the resort as a whole, and welcome the plans for the hotel’s refurbishment.”

Schnegg said: “We look forward to making a significant capital investment to further improve the quality of the hotel facilities, with a view to re-launching as an independent country house hotel.”
