Major refurbishment at Holiday Club Saariselkä

Finnish resort Holiday Club Saariselkä has been renovated to enable it to better meet the increasing demand for travel and quality accommodation in Lapland.

The move comes in response to the need for high-quality accommodation capacity in the region – in the first part of 2017, travel in Saariselkä increased by 27.5 per cent over the previous year.

The extensive renovations of Holiday Club Saariselkä are almost complete, and the resort is set to welcome guests for the autumn and winter season with a new and modern look. By Christmas, 27 luxurious new Villas flats will also be completed in Saariselkä, providing an excellent addition to its existing capacity of 11 Villas flats. With the new Villas, Holiday Club will be able to offer 139 hotel rooms and 132 holiday homes in Saariselkä.

Like all Holiday Club resorts, Holiday Club Saariselkä is an RCI-affiliated property, and the company’s service business director Marko Hiltunen believes developing the resort will help it to meet increasing demand in the area as well as improve its appeal to current and potential customers.

“Lapland travel is growing in double figures, and certainly not all visitors want to stay in cabins,” he said.

“There is also a significant need in the Saariselkä area for high-quality hotel accommodation and activities for the whole family. Our Villas flats are a great option for those who want to enjoy peace and privacy yet stay close to various services and activities.”

The facilities of Holiday Club Saariselkä have been extensively remodelled, with the spa hotel’s reception and lobby, including its bar and Restaurant Revontuli, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet, all receiving a modern look with a strong Lapland atmosphere.

The dressing rooms and washrooms, saunas and light fixtures of the spa were also refurbished. The first hotel rooms, renovated for maximum ambiance, also await holidaymakers. In future, an R kiosk will serve all Saariselkä residents and visitors next to the lobby. The resort’s new look has been created by Jaakko Puro, a leading interior designer that specialised in hotel, restaurant and business premise design.

The redesign is well timed, as the region enjoys a boom in tourist numbers.

Tarja Manninen, director of Marketing at Inari-Saariselkä Tourism Ltd, said: “So far this year, travel in Saariselkä has increased by a staggering 27.5 per cent from last year, and the prospects for the rest of the year are also excellent.

“Saariselkä is the most international travel destination in Lapland, and tourist flows for the winter season are expected from Great Britain, the Netherlands, Germany and Asian countries, in particular.”
