Jet2 adds three new destinations for Summer 19
Jet2 has expanded its flight programme for Summer 19, including the addition of three new destinations – Bourgas (Bulgaria), Chania (Crete) and Izmir (Turkey).
The Summer 19 programme represents another year of growth for the budget carrier, with more than 12 million seats on sale, representing a capacity increase of 12 per cent, with more than 1,200 weekly flights operating to 58 popular sun and city destinations in Europe during peak periods.
From May 2019, the airline will operate flights to Bourgas (Bulgaria), a new destination that offers great value for money as well as miles of golden sands along the Black Sea.
Another great flyer, Stanislav Yevetski, the Bulgarian actor best known for his role as Victor Krum in Harry Potter, helped the Bourgas announcement get off to a flying start by supporting the launch to his home country, Bulgaria.
The airline’s next new destination for Summer 19 is Chania (Crete), with more than 55,000 seats on sale to its second destination in Crete and eighth in Greece. The new route gives holidaymakers access to the northwest coast of Crete, opening up blue flag beaches and historic sights in resorts such as Rethymnon, Aghia Marina, Chania Town, Kalyves, Stalos and Kolymbari.
High demand
The third new destination for Summer 19 is Izmir (Turkey), which has been added in response to demand. With almost 80,000 seats, holidaymakers will have plenty of choice when it comes to accessing popular family-friendly resorts on the west coast of Turkey such as Kusadasi, Cesme, Ozdere and Seferihisar.
In addition, the airlines is launching another 10 new routes for Summer 19:
- Birmingham – four new routes to Bergerac, Kefalonia, Pula and Verona
- Edinburgh – two brand new routes to Bodrum and Corfu
- Glasgow – two brand new routes to Kos and Naples
- Leeds Bradford – the addition of a new Summer route to Krakow
- Manchester – launch of a brand new route to La Rochelle
To support the Summer 19 programme, the airline will operate 94 aircraft, including 34 brand new Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “We are extremely excited about our Summer 19 programme, which is our biggest and best to date. Three brand new destinations and a number of brand new routes give holidaymakers even more choice with our award-winning airline and package holiday business.
“The addition of flights to Bourgas means we will operate to Bulgaria for the first time, and with resorts such as Sunny Beach on sale, we are expecting it be hugely popular with Britons. Greece continues to attract holidaymakers in huge numbers, and this new route Chania in Crete means that we will operate to eight Greek destinations in 2019.
“Finally, Turkey continues to see huge demand, so we are opening up more resorts on the west coast of this fantastic country, by adding flights and holidays to Izmir.”
