RDO reveals more details of annual conference
European trade body the Resort Development Organisation (RDO) has revealed more details about RDO9, this year’s edition of its annual industry conference.
The event takes place on 12-13 September at the Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel and Spa in London, and this year’s theme is ‘ACT: Action Changes Things’.
Topics it aims to cover at RDO9 include:
- Legislation
- GDPR
- Online reviews
- Resort management
- Consumer trends
- Loyalty programmes
- Adding value through experiences

RDO has confirmed that this year’s conference will fitted into a slightly shorter time frame – as per the 2017 event – with the proviso that it is taking a “quality over quantity” approach.
The conference format has also changed in line with the theme, with the morning sessions taking a brief look at what timeshare promised to deliver to consumers over 20 years ago and how it stands today – which will ‘ACT’ as a backdrop to the afternoon sessions. Within these afternoon sessions, speakers will focus on specific ways in which we can actually ACT – i.e. what action will change things.
The proposed schedule for RDO9 will be:
- Day 1: RDO AGM, then a welcome lunch, followed by breakout sessions and an evening welcome reception with drinks and finger food.
- Day 2: A full day of focussed conference sessions, interspersed with coffee breaks and lunch. The conference will end with a theatre evening followed by an evening feast to round off the day and conclude the conference.
Full details of the breakout and conference sessions are still to be confirmed, but RDO has named motivational speakers Ellis Watson and Alex Hunter as keynote speakers for the event.
Registration for the event opened on 1 May – to find out more and register visit www.rdoconference.org.
