Sixth consecutive record summer for Hoseasons

Leading UK self-catering holiday specialist Hoseasons has revealed it has enjoyed a record summer of sales for the sixth year in succession.

Combined bookings for its entire portfolio are up 14% compared to the same period last year, with August bookings growing 25% and sales for the month via third parties rising by 11%.

In addition, breaks taken at its Autograph and Evermore Lodge Holidays destinations in August rose by 14% and 11% respectively year-on-year, with boating breaks also up by 8% over the peak summer period.

Hoseasons, which is a subsidiary of Wyndham Vacation Rentals, says demand for domestic holidays has grown by 52% since 2010.

‘Fantastic news’

Managing director, Simon Altham, said: “This is fantastic news for the business and the wider domestic tourism market.

“It’s been a very interesting few months for the British economy, but we know that people continue to prioritise their holidays, and with the convenience, flexibility and range of breaks on offer staying in the UK clearly remains first choice for many families, couples and groups of friends.”

Altham said the most exciting element of the data was six years of continued growth.

“People often suggest that domestic holidays perform well if the sun is shining or there’s a specific reason not to travel overseas,” he said.

“The reality is that during this period we’ve had a variety of weather conditions, variable exchange rates and host of external influences on consumer short-term buying patterns, yet we’ve seen continual growth in the market.

“This all clearly points to the fact that domestic vacations are here to stay and play a very important part in how UK consumers choose to spend their holiday time.”
