RDO unveils what to expect at annual conference
European timeshare body the Resort Development Organisation (RDO) has revealed what attendees can expect from its annual conference, which takes place later this month.
This year’s conference, known as RDO9, will take place on 12-13 September at the Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel and Spa in London, and will feature a strong programme of events including inspirational keynote and guest speakers, as well as networking opportunities.
RDO9 has the theme ‘ACT: Action Changes Things’, which organisers say reflects the fact that “a willingness to change is absolutely imperative for success for businesses and industries that want to survive and thrive in today’s fast-moving global economy”.
With travellers changing the way they vacation – as well as where they do it – RDO believes it is “vital now, more than ever, for the Timeshare and Vacation Ownership industry to take action and to change things, not merely for the sake of change, but rather to be constantly ready for the alterations that will continue to arise within this industry”.
Hot topics
Keynote speakers at the event include motivational experts Ellis Watson and Alex Hunter, while other guest speakers and panellists will discuss topics including:
- GDPR and other legislative matters
- Resort management in a world of diversity
- Secrets to winning awesome guest reviews
- RDO’s legal and enforcement activity
- Top travel trends and what it means for timeshare
- Loyalty programmes and experiences
In addition, John Spence, chairman and founder of the Karma Group will divulge some of his winning strategies, and Howard Nusbaum, president and CEO of the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), will discuss strategies to address the problems of owners being fraudulently persuaded to part with money to relinquish their timeshare interests.
The final session of the conference will feature a panel of industry experts sharing their experiences of change, reflecting on previous sessions and debating what can be done to the product and sales approach to bring about positive fundamental change.
