Bridge to Mexico

Access to Mexican destinations just got a whole lot easier (and cheaper) for Southern Californians.

A new pedestrian bridge linking San Diego and Tijuana Airport is giving Southern Californians a faster way to travel around Mexico and access flights to other international destinations.

Last December the Cross Border Xpress—a 390-foot-long glass-enclosed walkway—began offering quick and convenient passage between San Diego and Tijuana Airport, the departure point for flights to more than 30 destinations in Mexico and even one direct to Shanghai.

In fact, thanks to the CBX, airlines are already seeing opportunities to fill more seats. Aeromexico recently added direct flights to Chihuahua and Los Cabos in addition to expanding service to Hermosillo.

The bridge is the first to connect the U.S. to a foreign airport terminal, and it serves approximately 2.4 million passengers who already cross the border as part of their travels.

Using the CBX is simple enough: All you need to cross is your passport, Tijuana Airport boarding pass (which you can print out at one of the bridge’s convenient kiosks) and a bridge ticket—$12 per flier or $40 for up to six family members.
