Sneak Peek: The Ranch on Lake Tawakoni

Over 90 acres of outdoor activities is coming to Northeast Texas.

Texas hospitality is getting a boost thanks to a new resort, the Ranch on Lake Tawakoni, set just 45 miles outside of Dallas. Scheduled to open in spring 2018, it’s the fourth property by AMG Resorts, a development and sales company based in Conroe, Texas.

At Lake Tawakoni, AMG Resorts saw an opportunity to apply the expertise gained from operating its first lakeside property, Cabins on Lake Conroe. “After researching the area, we noticed that Dallas had no recreational resorts to offer vacationers, so we knew that a lakefront resort would be a huge success,” says the company’s CEO, Allen Jowers.

As at Cabins on Lake Conroe, AMG Resorts is building luxury units with an emphasis on comfort. The cabins will be larger than 750 square feet and offer fully furnished living areas with rustic décor such as leather seating and knotted-wood wall panels. Compared with Cabins on Lake Conroe, the Ranch on Lake Tawakoni has almost 90 more acres, which will allow AMG Resorts to increase the number of outdoor activities. “We’ll offer high-quality accommodations while maintaining a true nature escape, with an abundance of activities to participate in right on the resort,” Jowers says. Guests will be able to do everything from zip lining and canoeing to miniature golf and beach volleyball.

AMG Resorts has one international property, Villa Les Rizieres, in Bali, Indonesia, and is completing a resort in Acapulco, Mexico. While expanding the company’s portfolio, joining forces with RCI seemed a natural step. “We’re proud to have been the first Points resort with RCI Asia,” Jowers says. “The affiliation with RCI gives our owners flexibility to enjoy the Ranch on Lake Tawakoni while providing them with an exchange company that can successfully fulfill their vacation expectations.”
