Vacation Without Limits

Some companies are giving employees as much time off as they want.

American workers are rarely off the clock: Forty-six percent of respondents admitted to checking in with work while on vacation in Project: Time Off’s October 2017 survey Tethered Vacation. Recognizing this reality, such companies as General Electric, Netflix and LinkedIn are giving employees unlimited days off, provided their work doesn’t suffer.

Katie Denis, chief of research and strategy for Project: Time Off, says vacation ownership sets these employees up for success by committing owners to an allotted time at the beginning of the year. “The more you plan ahead, the more you can actually enjoy that time,” Denis says. To support owners’ planning, resorts may want to email them to remind them to book a vacation well in advance.

An unlimited vacation policy makes business facilities on the property increasingly important. Resorts with business centers or high-speed Wi-Fi may want to highlight them in marketing materials. Some resorts without dedicated facilities have designated part of their lobby for business needs.
