Wyndham resort delivers books to schools in Fiji

Representatives from Wyndham Resort Denarau Island have delivered more than 800 reader books to three rural schools on Denarau Island in Fiji.

The English books for children aged between five and 12 years were delivered to Ralete Primary School, Vaturu Primary School and Mulomulo Muslim Primary School following a donation from delegates of the Australian Timeshare and Holiday Ownership Council (ATHOC) during their recent conference on Denarau Island.

Brad Downton, general manager of Wyndham Resort Denarau Island, said: “Both students and teachers were delighted to receive the books, and we were very pleased to be able to deliver them on behalf of ATHOC.”

Narewa Kindergarten, will also benefit from the ATHOC delegates’ visit, with a FJ$2,400 donation that will be used for a much-needed refurbishment of the children’s toilet and shower block.

Every year, Australian timeshare operators attract more than 50,000 holidaymakers to Fiji who spend an estimate FJ$23 million dollars annually. Operators with resorts in Fiji include Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific, Accor Vacation Club and Ultiqa.

Laura Younger, ATHOC’s general manager, said: “Fiji is a much loved destination for thousands of timeshare owners, and on behalf of the industry we are thrilled to be able to give back to the communities in which Australian timeshare resorts operate.”

The timeshare industry makes regular contributions to Fijian communities through a range of charity programmes, while resorts also run their own community initiatives.
