Tenerife among Spain’s top destinations for 2017
Leading timeshare destination Tenerife has been named among the top destinations to visit in Spain in the 2017 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards.
The Canary Island came third in this year’s top 10 list with only Barcelona and the Balearic Island of Majorca coming ahead of it. Other Canary Islands Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria all made the top 10 of the awards, which are determined by the ratings of TripAdvisor users.
Will Hall, Director, Marketing, for RCI Europe, said: “Tenerife – and its sister islands in the Canaries – have long been popular destinations with RCI holidaying members so we at RCI are not surprised Tenerife has made the TripAdvisor No. 3, with the Canary Islands all making the top 10.
‘Shop window’
“We are all aware of the power of the internet – an international 24/7 shop window. This latest TripAdvisor survey delivers the wisdom of the crowds, and it’s good news for our business, as there are currently just over 100 resorts affiliated to RCI’s holiday exchange programme in the Canaries. It also points to future development opportunities in the hospitality sector.”
Jodi Beard, marketing director at travel agent Cheap Holidays Tenerife, said: “The value of social recommendations has never been greater. ShareThis and The Paley Center for Media have found that positive online recommendations can provide a 9.5 per cent boost in the price that consumers are prepared to pay, while an independent study for American Express found that retail brands can gain £125 more per customer for each recommendation on social media.
“The implications of the Travellers’ Choice award for Tenerife are therefore huge. The island has already reported bumper visitor numbers for 2016. Now it looks like 2017 will see an even bigger spike in those discovering the charms of Tenerife.”
