UK holidaymakers look to all-inclusive in 2018

UK consumers are likely to opt for all-inclusive holiday deals this year in response to the pressure of growing inflation.

The preference for all-inclusive deals is likely to increase during the summer, as a high percentage of consumers are expected to focus on reducing expenditure on foreign travel. The pressures on consumer spending are also likely to result in a preference for destinations that are cheaper to visit.

These are the key findings of a new research study highlighting key consumer trends in the UK holiday market, which has recently been added to the vast repository of Market Research Hub (MRH).

The ‘Holiday Review – UK – January 2018’ report offers holistic analysis on major factors that are shaping the holiday market in the UK, and is a valuable source of information covering the quantitative and qualitative factors shaping market growth.

The report begins with an executive summary of the UK holiday landscape, offering highlights and key points, as well as introducing a number of qualitative and quantitative aspects.

 

Inflationary pressures

According to the report, inflationary pressures, combined with an uncertain business climate on account of macroeconomic factors is prompting consumers in UK to opt for fewer overseas trips. The decline in interest is currently only marginal but could increase in the near future.

These factors are also likely to provide an impetus to the growth of domestic holiday market in the country, and the report also gives a breakdown on the total number of destinations visited by UK consumers in 2017.

The report also predicts that UK holidaymakers are likely to reduce the number of city breaks taken during the 2018 holiday season. A high percentage of young travellers, especially those aged 25-34 believe Brexit will create challenges for consumers taking overseas holidays, while domestic tourism has also seen a spike due to the sluggishness of Sterling.

The UK has remained an expensive destination to travel, especially for holidaymakers from Asia and Latin America. However, the decline in the value of pound has made it an attractive destination for many international tourists, albeit for a short time.
