Finnair unveils easier way to book stopovers

Finnair has unveiled a quicker and easier way for customers to schedule their stopovers in Finland and discover two destinations during one trip.

Customers will now be able to book a stopover for their connecting flight to or from Helsinki on the recently launched website stopover.finnair.com. They will also be able to choose between a wide variety of activities and tours in the country thanks to the StopOver Finland project, which is led by Visit Finland and operated in cooperation with Primera Holidays.

With Finland’s capital just half an hour away from Helsinki Airport, stopover customers will be able to enjoy its seaside atmosphere, design district, cosy cafés and unique restaurants and hotels. Further afield, travellers can also spend a day cruising through the Finnish archipelago or exploring one of Finland’s many national parks.

Visitors searching for something truly unforgettable, such as jetting off to northern Finland and experiencing the mystical landscapes of Finnish Lapland, will also be able to organize longer trips. The stopover packages, ranging from five-hour quick layovers to up to five-day tours, will be available throughout spring 2016.

Anssi Partanen, head of Travel Products at Finnair, said: “We are truly excited to be able to offer our customers the opportunity to StopOver and relax between flights and discover Finland at the same time. The StopOver Finland initiative is a perfect match for our expanding network.”

StopOver Finland is one of the Team Finland growth programmes funded by Finland’s Ministry of Employment and the Economy, and is led by Visit Finland along with partners such as Finnair and the tourism industry in Finland. Additional information can be found at visitfinland.com/stopover.
