Gwel an Mor launches exciting Base Camp facility
A new indoor play centre and climbing facility has been launched at the multi award-winning Gwel an Mor Resort in Portreath, on the North Cornish Coast.
The exciting new activity centre is set to make the holiday destination even more captivating to families, and features a range of indoor Clip‘n’Climb walls along with soft play and café with Base Camp created to provide all weather adventures, social fun and fitness for all.
Meaning ‘view of the sea’ in Cornish, Gwel an Mor – which is affiliated to RCI’s luxury exchange programme The Registry Collection – offers the ultimate in five-star coastal breaks, providing luxury lodge accommodation alongside top-class facilities in a spectacular Cornish location. The resort is classed amongst the UK’s premier holiday destinations and was recently chosen by the principal cast of Poldark as their Cornish home during filming for season two of the hit BBC TV show.
Quality facilities
Surrounded by coast and countryside and joining the current onsite facilities including The Terrace Restaurant, Wellbeing Spa, indoor pool and gym, events barn and Feadon Farm Wildlife Centre amongst other activities, the latest addition to the resort has been created for year-round family fun. Spread over three floors and spanning 2,000 square feet, the extensive soft play area features slides, ball pools, bubble windows and transparent platforms amongst the soft obstacles to roll, jump around, swing and explore.
With ten different climbing walls to encounter, the Clip‘n’Climb area at Base Camp is a brilliant and challenging climbing experience for children from four through to the fully grown-ups. Using the latest ‘Auto-belay’ technology, the concept is simple and safe – participants clip onto belay ropes and climb without the need for a partner but are fully guided by the Base Camp staff.
Welcoming families seven days a week, the Base Camp Café serves first-rate food and drink with the seating area on the mezzanine level giving parents the perfect view to watch their children play and explore.
The Gwel an Mor resort has invested £5 million in the last three years in adding and improving its five-star accommodation along with new ancillary activities for guests and locals. Base Camp is the latest addition, with a stunning new fishing lake and golf course inspired by some of the best golf holes from around the world due to follow.
