Abu Dhabi enjoys record growth in guest arrivals
Abu Dhabi saw a record seven per cent rise in the number of hotel guest arrivals during the first four months of the year compared to the same period in 2016.
More than 1.6 million visitors checked into the emirate’s hotels and hotel apartments during the first third of 2017, including 86,529 British visitors a four per cent increase year on year.
Buoyed by the annual Easter holidays, April was a particularly strong month for British visitors, when a 16.24 per cent year-on-year increase in hotel guests was recorded. The figure makes the UK the third largest overseas source market for international visitors to the emirate, behind China and India.
HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, director general of Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), said: “Following a record year for the number of guest arrivals into the emirate in 2016, we welcome this increase as we continue to pursue our target of attracting 4.9 million visitors by the end of 2017.”
